I know some of you are wondering where did this all come from? lol Well I went to Cee this incredible play "Boxes" written by Ebony Curtis and directed by Brandon White. It discussed the pit holes that we sometimes find ourselves in when we listen to the voices of others and allow them to permeate or overshadow our opinions of ourselves. Many of the characters in the play found themselves in very compromising situations as a result of allowing a relative, coworker, or friend's opinion matter more than their own. At the end of the play, one of the male protagonist (Jabari Cigno) delivered a powerful monologue that encouraged audience members to live their dreams, pursue goals, and remain ambitious. I left with a feeling of renewed passion to pursue my personal goals. I hope the message above does the same for you. For more information on this truly inspiring play click here.
