Realizing the Resolution: Entry #1

Peace Family,

In addition to sharing my happy moments from last year, I thought it would be cool to share a few of my resolutions for this year. The funny thing about resolutions is that once we fall off of them we tend to give up completely. Today I just wanna offer a bit of encouragement, DON'T GIVE UP! That was as much for me as it was for you:) I have to remind myself to get back in the game and forgive myself for brief moments of neglect. We are all human and sometimes things just get in the way. One of the biggest things being ourselves lol But anyway...One of my resolutions for this year is to increase my water consumption. I have good weeks where I'll get two cups or one blue jug down a day (pics below). Then I'll have a week where I only do that three or four days a week. My goal for this year is to do this at least five days a week. I think this is very reasonable and attainable. To make it fun and a little more tasty I've decided to add lemon, lime, and orange wedges to the water. This way I get  my health and happy simultaneously:) The end definitely justifies the means. I notice a real difference in my skin and energy level when I drink water. Do you have any resolutions that you're determined to make work this year? What kind of new approaches are you taking to ensure success? Share your comments below I would love to hear from you. Don't forget to check out "Tell a Friend Tuesday" and enter for a chance to win!!!

Gold Tips!!

Peace Family,

For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit of a nail color fanatic!! I love to experiment with mixing colors. I do my nails once a week usually on Sundays but with the three day weekend I did them yesterday and here is what I came up with...

Not exactly perfectly executed but I really like it! My favorite shade of blue and a hint of gold. It's like a little dose of happy every time I look down at them:) Heard a very powerful message from one of my favorite you tube channels Bintentional by Aiyana Ma'at she said "2011 about completion not perfection." This quote stuck with me. I have been repeating it with all my activities this morning. With a thousand and one things to do, sometimes it is just relieving to complete a few. NOBODY IS PERFECT. Let us put our best foot forward and be happy with some outcome versus none. Until next time, I wish you all peace and light. Many blessings:)

Song of the Day: Kanye "Heard 'Em Say"

Hey Fam,

Really chill laid back morning. Glad it's Friday. Three day weekend in front of me and feeling good:) Aside from the simple soothing beat of Kanye's hit "Heard 'Em Say," the lyrics to this song have been resonating within me this morning. "Nothings ever promised tomorrow today" and he couldn't be more right about that! lol But more importantly the song serves as a gentle\subtle reminder to remain in tune with the things we want to do and how there are consequences to not doing so. For those of you who are familiar with the song, you know it's not one of those over the top blaring anthems screaming GET UP AND GET MOVING!! To me, it's more of an ok you know what you had planned today so stick to it kind of vibe. Check it out if you already haven't and if you have fall in love all over again:) Until next time, I wish you all peace and light. Cee ya in the next post! (Video Below)

Song of the Day: Fantasia "Even Angels"

Hey Fam,

I know I haven't done this in a while but I'm back with another song of the day. Part of the things I want to concentrate on doing this year is simply what makes me happy. I LOVE blogging so I will definitely be doing more of it. Even if it means writing down my post in the car while waiting on someone until I can't get to the computer lol.

This song speaks to me. It reminds me that none of us are perfect and that sometimes we just have to accept our failures because they aid us in "learning to fly." That is my interpretation of the song at least lol I'm feeling it and I hope you will to :) Check out the video below. Have a great day, morning, evening whenever you read this and leave your comments below I love to here from ya!

Project Recap 2011: #2 "Step Out!!"

Peace Family,

I hope all of your days are going well and this message reaches you in good health and spirits :) As the second entry to my "Project Recap 2011" I wanted to revisit my participation in "Step Out" Walk to Fight Diabetes. I had always wanted to be a part of something like this. Diabetes is a disease that has affected my family in large numbers. As an early teenager, I made the decision to change my eating habits in an effort to prevent myself from becoming afflicted with the disease. It is hereditary, but I believe with healthy eating habits and regular exercise I can keep a reign on it. As with all things, knowledge is key so I signed up to help spread the word about diabetes prevention and treatment. I will definitely do it again in the future. It was a wonderful and enlightening experience. For more information on "Step Out" and how you can become a part of cause click here. Video footage of the walk below. Enjoy and leave all your comments below. I love to hear from ya!

Hair Epiphany!!

Peace Family,

I know I know. I said I would not blog about hair stuff here but this I truly had to share...

Every now and then I will have a hair break through. An epiphany so to speak. It happened for the first time when I tried Giovanni’s Direct Leave In. It was magical!! I thought I had died and went to hair heaven. Styling had never been so easy. Then earlier this summer I tried the Tresume Naturals conditioner. Huge mile stone! It is my FAVORITE detangling conditioner. I will not bother detangling my hair without it. Since using Tresume, I’ve had less hair loss while detangling, incredible slip, and wonderful deep conditionings. But yesterday after a minor hair episode, due to carelessness on my part, I discovered what I am calling my “2011 Hair Breakthrough” the detangling comb!!! It is one dollar!! Yes, you heard it right ONE DOLLAR at your local Dollar Tree. You know the green and white dollar store? Yea that one lol I am too through with everything else. The Denman brush, wide tooth comb, whatever I have used in the past is no match for this comb! The teeth are just wide enough to catch all shed hair without removing healthy hair strands. It has two rows of teeth rounded on the ends so not to puncture or tear my tresses. It is a breeze! I am in love. The only regret I have is not finding this comb sooner. I am sending this story to all my favorite hair blogs in hopes that you see it and try it for yourself. If you don’t like it hey it was only a dollar right!? Lol But seriously, it is the best dollar I have ever spent. I am running back to the store to by a few for YouTube giveaways. Just to be fair, if I had to change one thing about this comb it would be to have grips put on the handle so that it doesn’t slide when wet.  However, I can remedy this with a few rubber bandsJ I have not been paid to endorse this comb or any of the other products mentioned here. I feel like everybody is prefacing their reviews with this statement lately. I am just a young lady who stumbled into a dollar store, found a comb, and fell in love with it. Who knows maybe you will do the same.

Project Recap 2011

Peace Family,

I hope the year has been good to you thus far better yet let us be good to the year! :) I have decided to do a recap of the my best and worst in 2010. The posts will consist primarily of videos and pictures. Maybe even a few quotes and passages. I feel like this will help me to cee progression from one year to the next and recognize what I should be doing differently. I really want 2011 to be a year of firsts. Things that I have never done but have always wanted to do will be the focus of this year. Below is a short list of these "things":

-Go to the movies alone
-Read/spend time with the elderly
-Take a trip to Canada
-Take a trip to Vegas
-Take structured guitar lessons
-Make more time for arts and crafts
-Buy a new (used) car lol
-Buy my first house/condo
-Start non-profit or youths

I know this list is kind of scattered and all over the place but these are the things I would like to cee started if not actualized by the end of 2011. I know that I can do it. With God's help and work on my part all things are possible. So, throughout the month of January I will be posting my highs and lows of 2010 in preparation for the kick off of my 2011 aspirations. Yikes! Here I go!!! Jesus take the wheel lol

First recap video from 2010 "A Year In Natural Hair Vlogging." Over the past two years, I can say one of my major accomplishments was learning to care for my natural tresses effectively. It has been the greatest journey that I that I accidentally embarked on lol. Enjoy the video below and feel free to share your highs and lows of 2010 or aspirations for 2011. I love to hear from ya.
